Tresorit encrypts your files on your device before they leave it. Nobody at Tresorit can read what you store. Not their engineers, not their admins, not even if a court orders it. That is the core promise of their zero-knowledge architecture, and it is backed by independent security audits.

The company was founded in Budapest in 2011 and is now headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland. Swiss Post, the Swiss national postal service, is the sole owner. That means Tresorit operates under Swiss privacy law, which is among the strongest in the world, and is not subject to the US CLOUD Act.

You get cross-device sync, secure link sharing with password protection and expiry dates, and granular permission controls for shared folders. Business plans add admin dashboards, activity logs, Outlook and Gmail plugins, and the ability to choose where your data is physically stored within Europe.

Plans start at $11.99 per month for 1 TB of personal storage. Business plans begin at $14.50 per user per month. There is no free tier, but all plans come with a 14-day trial.

Worth knowing

Tresorit is one of the pricier options in encrypted cloud storage. The zero-knowledge approach also means that if you lose your password, Tresorit cannot help you recover your files. Some users report occasional sync delays and that reorganizing files within the app can feel slow. If you need maximum security and work in a regulated industry like healthcare or law, the trade-offs are often worth it. If you mainly want cheap storage for personal photos, there are more affordable alternatives.
