Ecosia is a German company, so your data falls under EU and German privacy law. Your IP address gets anonymized within 7 days. Ecosia does not build personal profiles from your searches and does not sell your data. One trade-off: search queries go through Microsoft Bing to deliver results, and Bing keeps IP addresses for up to 6 months. Ecosia is building its own European search index with Qwant to reduce this dependency over time.
