Mistral AI is a French company supervised by CNIL. All services are hosted in the EU by default. Free tier conversations may be used for model improvement, but Pro users get a No Telemetry Mode where prompts are never used for training. Users have full GDPR rights including access, portability, rectification, and deletion. A CNIL complaint was filed in 2025 over limited opt-out options on the free tier. The company is building its own data center near Paris (online late 2026) for full infrastructure sovereignty.
